WELCOME TO THE HILL STREET SCALA ACADEMY

We believe that Service is one of the best industries to develop and apply the most transferrable core life skills of any career you may have. From your ability to confidently communicate, work independently and within a team, understand how business works, through to problem solving and conflict management, your service career will set you up to succeed.

Statistics show that we are more likely to have over 7 different careers, not just jobs, in our lifetime. So as demographics change, business practices evolve, cultures transform and technology disrupts the world as we know it… Scala is here to take you on a journey to remain ahead of the curve and set you up to take the next step!

Hill Street is one of Tasmania's largest employers in the Retail industry and has committed to the professional development of its people. As part of the employment pathway within Hill Street, you may be selected to participate in the Hill Street Scala Academy. The Academy is a paid for program of engaging face-to-face workshops, learning resources, in-store support and mentoring to develop some of the most transferrable life skills you get through a retail career. Working closely with Scala, you will complete assessments that will help you attain a nationally recognised Certificate III in Retail qualification!

Not only will you have the opportunity to work for one of the largest, successful grocery chains in Tasmania, but they will commit to developing and accrediting you in a qualification!

Once you have been inducted into the Academy, you will undertake two important, concurrent, phases throughout a 12-18 month program:

Phase One: Development Modules

A series of ‘Development Modules’, including activities and workshops focusing on your industry and the transferrable skills you will need now and into the future. Our workshops are specifically designed to be engaging and get you thinking about why, not just how, we do what we do. The workshops are paid for, fun, engaging and support you in your career!

Phase Two: Measurement and Assessment

Whilst you undertake the development modules, you will build a portfolio of evidence to demonstrate your knowledge, performance and skills to your employer and Scala Institute. Work with us and we may be able to formally accredit you towards the Nationally recognised Certificate III in Retail qualification as part of the program!

Keep in mind, it's one thing to say you can do something, it's another to be able to back it up. Scala are licensed (National RTO ID 60168) to do just that...

We ask that you go into the academy with Scala with an open mind. Whether you have just started, or you have had a long career in the industry, our development modules have been designed to ensure everyone participating will be engaged, excited and empowered.

Frequently Asked Questions & THE NITTY GRITTY...

HOW do SCALA DELIVER AND ASSESS THE SIR30216 QUALIFICATION?
There are two phases of the Scala qualifications. Depending on your level of knowledge, skill and level of performance Scala will determine your individual 'Training Plan'. However, the specific training and assessment methodology, approach and activities were developed by Scala Institute as part of an extensive consultation, design and validation process. Using the experience of the consultants at Scala Institute, Industry partners, employers and students Scala has developed an extensive Training and Assessment Strategy for the SIR30216 Certificate III in Retail qualification.
