During this engagement stage, our Student Support team will work directly with you to explain the program in detail, learn more about your prior experience and understand what you hope to get out of this program so we can make sure you have the best Training and Assessment Strategy to suit your needs. When you are happy and all signed up - you will then commence your first of five modules!

THE PROGRAM
MODULE ONE
SERVICE MASTERY |
The first module is all about understanding what makes branding, customers, service and everything in between so important in your workplace.
You will develop the foundations of delivering a great customer experience - a skill you will need in every career you have. |
MODULE TWO
COMMUNICATION |
You have probably noticed that the people you work with and the customers you serve are all so different!
During this module you will learn more about personality types, buying behaviours and how to use this skill to improve your ability to communicate with different people with ease! With the foundations sorted, we will then spend time developing your complaint handling skills and ensuring you have the confidence to turn any upset customer around. |
MODULE THREE
SALES |
There's a huge difference between the money we earn and the profit that gets made in business. This module will develop some business awareness to further enhance our understanding of why it's important to develop good product knowledge and feel more confident in servicing customers every need to produce more profit.
Trust us when we say, Retailing is a hard business and working for a profitable retailer pays back in more opportunity, fun and income as a result. |
MODULE FOUR
SAFETY + SECURITY |
In a lot of cases, workplaces are not well enough equipped to deal with emergency or threatening situations, as they’d like to be.
Whilst Workplace Health & Safety (WHS) may seem like a dry topic, our Students unanimously agree this module helps them feel more competent and confident as it relates to their Duty of Care at work and how to respond to different situations! As the module draws to conclusion, Scala aims to discuss the various elements that would comprise professionalism and unpack the individual motivating drivers that can inspire each of us to perform at our very best EVERY day. |
MODULE FIVE
YOUR CAREER |
This module focuses on the important skills and attributes that separate the exceptional from the average! With a focus on maximising exposure to current workplace opportunities; and building key strategies, knowledge and awareness of the practical, legal and ethical attributes needed by professional workers in the modern workplace.
|
COMPLETION
Throughout the engagement process and the following five modules you would have developed, applied and demonstrated a range of knowledge and skills relating to the retail sector. You will spend the time developing a Portfolio of Evidence that our assessors will deem competent (or not yet competent) and when you have successfully been deemed competent in all of the elements of our SIR30216 Certificate III in Retail qualification, you will complete your program with Scala!
On successful completion, students will receive an official, nationally recognised qualification from our CEO.
We look forward to having you on our journey and handing you a certificate when you complete!

HOW do SCALA DELIVER AND ASSESS THE SIR30216 QUALIFICATION?
There are two phases of the Scala qualifications. Depending on your level of knowledge, skill and level of performance Scala will determine your individual 'Training Plan'. The below document will provide you with a great insight into the qualification and what may be required for you to participate and successfully receive a Scala qualification.

Testamur and Record of Results |
A statement of attainment will only be issued if you successfully complete one or more units of competency or modules or an accredited short course, but do not meet the requirements for a qualification (as specified in your individual Training Plan).

HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE TO COMPLETE?
Nominal Duration vs Expected Duration
In general, you will be provided with a 'Nominal Duration' by the Apprenticeship Network Provider (ANP) when you sign into the qualification. This nominal duration is the maximum amount of time that the Government expects you to complete the qualification. It takes into account the fact that you might be 'self-paced' learning and this can take some time to complete if you're doing it on your own and/or without much support.
As your RTO, Scala works closely with you and your employer to deliver and assess you within an 'Expected Duration' which is usually within 12-24 months! Our team will work with you at enrolment and throughout the program to review your individual Training Plan, which will give you a great indication of your expected duration. Keep in mind, the program is a competency based qualification, so if you demonstrate your knowledge and skill sooner, or you don't engage with your learning or assessments, this timeline will adjust accordingly.
So if you get told you have 48 months to finish and this freaks you out, don't worry, Scala has a different plan in mind to support you faster!

CAN I STILL PARTICIPATE IF I HAVE SPECIAL NEEDS OR LANGUAGE, LITERACY OR NUMERACY (LLN) CONSIDERATIONS?
On enrolment, students complete an enrolment form to advise Scala Institute of any special considerations and/or LLN requirements. For LLN specific concerns, the student can complete a further LLN assessment form to determine if their ability may be sufficient to participate and complete the qualification.
Students that may require specific, additional support may identify with the following:
· people whose first language is not English and who have not had access to English language classes
· people of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander origin
(because they may not speak English as a first language and may have had limited or disrupted schooling)
· people with limited or disrupted formal education
· people in older age groups who have not undertaken formal learning for some time
· people whose learning has been disrupted by disability
· people who have been unemployed for a period and may not have taken part in formal learning for some time
While Scala Institute does not have resources available to provide direct support to special needs, LLN or other considerations; students will be referred to external agencies for further assessment and support where necessary. In most instances, the student will be referred to the Apprenticeship Network Provider’s (ANP) "in training services" support program and/or 26TEN (https://26ten.tas.gov.au) that can assist with Language, Literacy and Numeracy specific requirements.
Where a student may not be certain of their special needs or LLN concerns on enrolment, support can be requested at any stage throughout the qualification. Scala Institute’s Student Support Team will work closely with each student to ensure they are comfortable, supported and progressing through their qualification through this support process. In most instances, the Training Plan and Assessment Tools will be reviewed and adjusted where required to further support learners’ specific needs.
